You can send the currently displayed tracks to Google Earth, to see you tracks against a
satellite image of the terrain. Google Earth is installed separately, and may be
downloaded from http://earth.google.com.
To send a track to Google Earth, first display the event, then press the "Send to Google
Earth" button:
TackTracker's integration carries over many of the properties of the native track player,
such as:
· Track colors
· Tack detection
· Race Legs and and marks
You can use the Places control to view a portion of the race at a time. Notice how the
race structure has been faithfully imported from TackTracker. In the example below the
event name is "7th Aggregate". Check the box next to the event to turn off all segments,
then selectively turn segments back on. For example, you might select Leg01.
Secondly, you can use the Google Earth TimeSlider control, which lets you show a
subset of the track and grow it as you slide the control.
You can select any point to see statistics for that point - such as time, distance, speeds
and bearings. Notice that each tack point is specially marked. Select a tack point to also
see summary stats for that tack:
You may also use Google Earth to define fixed marks and landmarks in TackTracker, to create
paths (such as shorelines) to import into TackTracker, and to position background images for
import into TackTracker.
