TackTracker's Club Tools are a powerful suite of features designed for the Club or Association
using TackTracker to showcase and replay races. These tools are only available with a club
license. They include:
· Enhanced Unattended Replay features such as the ability to select and play a selected
set of races in turn.
· Handicap Races: TackTracker calculates handicap placings and percent to win ranking
throughout the course and gives both the scratch and handicap place. You can create a
competitor schedule containing boat details and handicap for each competitor.
· Multiple Start Times. TackTracker lets you track multiple classes at once, if they share
the same course.
· Reports. TackTracker provides a range of reports including mark roundings and
handicap placings. You can also output the contents of the Legs table as a report.
· Publish Online. With the publishing tools built into TackTracker, you can publish your
races online for members to view in the TackTracker web player or standalone player.
You can even embed the web player into your own web site.
Unattended Replay
TackTracker's Auto replay feature provides a compelling replay experience without any manual
intervention required. Auto replay tracks the leading boats in the fleet and slows down for mark
roundings and the start and finish.
You can customize the Auto Replay speeds in the Settings Dialog:
With your Club Tools license, you can also select multiple races for replay. In the Library tab, use
the right click menu to select "Add to Autoplay list" for each race you want to replay.
An orange circular icon will appear against the event. You can add as many events to the auto
play list as you want.
When done, start playing any event in Auto mode. When the event is complete, the next event
on the auto play list is loaded and will begin playing. Over time, all events in the auto play list will
be replayed in a continuous loop.
Handicap Races
TackTracker now supports handicap racing. With your club tools license, you can enter a Time
Correction Constant (TCC) for each boat in the Tracks tab of the Race Editor:
If any boats in the event have a TCC entered, the Select Tab will show a new Adjusted Place
column showing the corrected time placing during the replay:
You can sort by scratch place or Adjusted place by clicking the desired column header. Check
the "Sort Place" check box to sort automatically as you replay - to create a Leader board effect.
Click the column header to select which column you wish to automatically sort.
Handicap details do not need to be entered into the Edit Track Tab each time - they can be saved
into a competitor schedule, which, if present is available in the Library Tab:
Select the Competitor Schedule from the Library to open an editor dialog which lets you view and
edit the schedule. The Schedule is stored in CSV format and may also be readily generated from
other software systems.
If you have entered the TTC values manually in the Edit Track tab, you can export this data into
the schedule using the Library right click menu item "Update Competitor Schedule From Event."
With your schedule in place, TackTracker will lookup the schedule whenever new tracks are
added to an event, and source Trackee information, such as handicap, from the schedule by
matching Trackee name.
Multiple Start Times
You can define multiple start times for an event. For example:
· You have several classes competing the same course, but with staggered starts. (If the
classes sail different courses, you will need to define separate events.)
· A Pursuit race, where boats start at different times as a handicap.
In the Start Time page of the Race Editor, check the "Multiple Starts for this race" checkbox:
Specify the number of start times you wish to define.
Above the Start Time, a new start selection control will appear:
Select the start for the time you wish to set and then use the TimeLine and Set button to set the
start in the normal way.
Note that start times must be specified in increasing sequence.
TackTracker takes care of matching boats to the appropriate start, by analysing when each boat
crosses the start line on the way to the first mark.
Reports
The Club Tools provide you with a set of ready to go reports you can use to supplement the
TackTracker replays:
Simply load an event select the desired report and click Create Report. The report will appear in
HTML format in your web browser, ready for viewing or printing.
Publishing Online
Create a valuable service for your members by publishing your races online, for viewing at home
from the TackTracker standalone application, or TackTracker's excellent web player. Embed the
player in your own website alongside your published race results to provide a leading edge
service - sailors can not only see the results, but watch the replay too!
All this is achieved using TackTracker's built in Publisher Tools on the Online Races tab. Use the
Publisher Tools to define a "Regatta", which is a collection of races.
Then in the Library Tab right click on events you wish to publish and select "Publish". A dialog
will prompt you through selection of the regatta and naming the event.
When you first create a regatta - it will be in a "Not Published" state. Only you can view it - so
you can safely experiment until you get it right. When you are satisfied, change the state to
Published.
