A tracker was turned on after the start. How do I match it to the event?
Answer
After loading tracks from a GPS or file, they are automatically matched against the events you have previously created. So, for example, if you are loading tracks for a yacht race, you define an event for the first track loaded, and all subsequent tracks loaded will be saved automatically to the event.
Tracks are matched to an event based on three criteria:
1. The track start time must precede the event start
2. The track end time must occur after the event start
3. The track must be in the same geographical vicinity as the event.
Sometimes you need to load a track that does not meet the first criteria, and TackTracker does not automatically match it to your desired event.
This can happen when a sailor forgets to turn on their GPS until after the race has started. To avoid this, please encourage all sailors to switch on their GPS before leaving shore.
To recover from this situation, you can modify the track to backdate the first track point to before the event start.
